Nursery services and contract growing

We carry out a variety of horticultural activities in our nursery including seed cleaning and processing, and the cultivation of plug plants. Using specialist sowing equipment we also contract grow large numbers of plug plants to order.

Seed Processing
 Following harvesting, seed is dried in one of our polytunnels and cleaned to a high standard using a variety of methods and machinery. These methods include threshing, barn-fanning, aspiration, and sieving tailored to individual seed sizes.

Plug plants
Plug plants of native wildflower species are grown to the highest quality using peat-free growing media. Some species have very specific propagation requirements for which we use a germination cabinet. Plug plants are cared for using organic methods until ready for use in planting schemes. Contract growing
In addition to our standard range of products, we can grow large numbers of plants specifically to order. A Hamilton seeder provides a fully automated plug plant production system capable of sowing 10,000 seeds per hour. The resultant plants can be provided as plugs or fully grown plants depending on the needs of the client or project.

Operations are carried out using sustainable, environmentally friendly working practices such as using peat-free growing media.
