Plug plants

Plug plants are small plantlets typically grown in trays of 30 cells. The plug plants we grow are usually choice perennial species that are difficult or slow to grow from seed.

Plug plants can be used on their own or to enhance existing areas by directly adding more wildflower species. They may also be used in areas where seed sowing is more problematic - for example wet areas or slopes.

On steep banks plug plants can be used in conjunction with hydroseeding to enhance stabilisation – see Hydroseeding and erosion control.
